STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
These fields of study have been identified as critical by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
STEM degrees and course are defined based on the degree or course’s CIP Code. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has identified STEM fields as CIP code prefixes (or CIP Family) of:
- 11 – Computer and Information Services
- 14 – Engineering
- 15 – Engineering Technologies and Engineering related fields
- 27 – Mathematics and Statistics
- 40 – Physical Sciences
- 30.01 – Biological Sciences
